Sourcemod tutorial for Counter Strike Source dedicated server

Sourcemod is the most popular server administration plugin. It is being used in Counter Strike Source servers, but it was made for a lot of other games. This tutorial will show you how to install and configure Sourcemod on CS:S dedicated servers. This mod requires Source Metamod installation on your server, so make sure you have installed it already, and if you haven`t just see this tutorial. 1. Automatichal installation 1. First download the Sourcemod 1.0.3 installer and unzipp it anywhere on disk. 2. Run the installer and select as installation folder the main directory of your server ( if you installed the server using our tutorial, the directory is called SRCDS). Click OK and let the installer do his work.

.3. Go to SRDCS\cstrike\addons\metamod and open metaplugins.ini using Wordpad or Notepad. Add there this line: This is it. You have installed Sourcemod. Adding Sourcemod Admins There are two ways of adding the admins in Sourcemod: the simple way and the more complex one. We will show you the easier way. Go to SRCDS\cstrike\addons\sourcemod\configs and open admins_simple.ini using Wordpad or Notepad . SRCDS is the main directory of your server. If you want the full admin with high imunity add a line like this : "!79.116.220.225" "99:z" - for ip admin ( Don`t forget the ! character ) "STEAM_0:1:16" "z" - for steam id admin "NAME" "z" "pass" -for name admin In case you chose the name admin, you will have to type the setinfo line in game before you connect to the server: setinfo _password pass where: -the _password is your key set in core.cfg (SRCDS\cstrike\addons\sourcemod\configs) by the cvar "PassInfoVar" (you can change the _passwordvalue if you like). -the pass is your password set in admins_simple.ini

Installing Source Metamod on Counter Strike Source dedicated server

The most important engin of a dedicated Counter Strike Source server is the Source Metamod. In order to install it on your server, follow a few simple steps: 1. Download the Source Metamod Installer 144-162 and unzipp it. 2. Run the exe , "Select mod directory", select the cstrike folder inside the main directory of your server (SRCDS\cstrike) 3. Click OK and let the installer do his work.

The installer will create the addons folder inside cstrike. In metamod you will install all the other principal plugins. This installer installs the latest version of Source Metamod. In case you will need some older version visit the official plugin site.

Counter Strike Source dedicated server installation tutorial on Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7

Requirements 1 GB of free space on disk. Recomanded OS: XP Service Pack 2 (but it runs well on Vista too) 1 GB of RAM Memory Installing the server First af all create a new folder named SRCDS anywhere on disk. Then download CS Source Server Creator . Double click, Next chose the SRCDS directory and click Install. The installer will open a command prompter black window. Just wait until the installer downloads the server. When it is done, the black window goes away. That means you are done downloading the server. Some antivirus softwares will get a false virus detection when you run the installer. Don`t worry ! The installer is 100 % safe ! It is just HLDS Update Tool , a little bit simplified for you not to complicate yourselvs with command lines.

Servers configuration Go to SRCDS\css\cstrike\cfg and check if you have there a file named server.cfg. If it is not there, create it with Notepad or Wordpad and save it with cfg extension. Then open it and copy this: Change the Server Name and RCON password as you like. If you want to enable bots, set the bot quota in this line: bot_quota 0 (put the number here). Opening the server There is only one way to open the server so pay attention ! Go to SRCDS directory an look for srcds.exe. Right click on it and select "Create Shortcut" or “Send to -> Desktop” (if you want a shortcut on your Desktop) . Right click thr shortcut and select "Proprieties". In the Target field leave a space after the last character and copy this: You can costumize it : "-console" – is for the ingame console (the one that opens with `) "-game cstrike" – is for the counter strike game "-secure" – is for your VAC anti cheat. If you want it disabled just type insecure instead of secure "+maxplayers 22 – is the maximal number of slots on your server (you can change it) "+map de_dust2 - the starting map (you can olso change it) Patching the server If you want your server to be Steam Only, skip this step ! But if you want it to accept non steam users, download this patch and unzipp it. Copy the content of css-dods folder (bin,steam,rev.ini) to SRCDS\css and overwrite the existig files. Now you have a Counter Strike Source dedicated server that accepts Steam and Non Steam users. Now we will make sure that you can administrate your server.
